We believe in communication, openness and transparency, and we welcome feedback from our employees, both positive and constructive. Employee feedback allows us to re-calibrate and re-focus on the priorities and initiatives that matter most to our employees. Our annual employee engagement scores have remained around 90% in recent years, well above the industry benchmark of 69%.

G&F encourages recognition for both individual and collaborative accomplishments through a variety of avenues, from our in-house Yammer social media site to our annual Night of Excellence where employees nominate their coworkers for a variety of formal awards. We all celebrate success together.

There are also options for Health and Personal Spending Accounts and for purchasing additional vacation time! Best of all, G&F covers the cost for these benefits!

We understand that saving for your future is important, and the sooner you start saving, the better! That’s why after one year of employment, G&F will contribute 10.5% of your salary to a group retirement plan for you. Your own contribution is optional! Our team of Wealth Management specialists will help you choose from a variety of available investment options that best suit your own financial goals.

We are also pleased to be able to offer qualifying employees a variety of products at preferred rates, including loans, mortgages, foreign exchange and credit cards, along with our in-house expertise to help you make the right decisions.

Vacation and care days Expand/Collapse

We recognize the importance of work-life balance as well as the value of a vacation to unwind and recharge! At G&F, all eligible employees enjoy a minimum of 3 weeks’ paid vacation. After your first year, you will receive one additional day for every year of service, to a maximum of 30 days. In addition, after 10 years of service (and every 5 years thereafter), you will receive a gift of one extra week’s vacation, just as our way of saying thanks.

Along with work-life balance, we also recognize the importance of employee wellness, so we are happy to offer “Care Days,” paid time off to deal with illness, personal appointments or care of a sick dependent, to ensure that everyone is well enough to be happy and productive at work! Employees bank one Care Day per month, and at the end of the year, any balance over 10 days is either paid out at 50% or used towards paid volunteering time!

Charitable giving Expand/Collapse

G&F is a collaborative organization and we value the input of our employees on which charities we choose to support throughout the year. For the last several years, G&F has been supporting the United Way Lower Mainland and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. We also host an annual golf tournament that supports a new charity each year. In recent years we have supported both the Richmond Hospital Foundation and Burnaby Hospital Foundation.

Through the G&F Foundation, we encourage our employees to submit names to fundraise for the charity that personally resonates with them.

Green initiatives Expand/Collapse

Even though our G&F colours are orange and blue, we’re a very green organization at heart. We’ve taken several measures to work towards environmental sustainability and have earned a ClimateSmart certification for our reduced carbon emissions, successfully achieved since 2010.  We offer our employees several options to make sustainable and environmentally friendly choices at work, including a robust recycling program, organics composting and options for transit subsidies through flex benefits to incentivize alternative methods of commuting to and from work.
