Linda is Saskatchewan born and relocated to Vancouver to work as Manager Compensation for the City of Vancouver where she worked for 11 years before moving to Central 1 Credit Union.
Her background in the credit union system and cooperative sectors provided her the opportunity to develop an appreciation for and understanding of cooperative values and the credit union business model, operations and governance having seen them from the executive and board perspectives and seen the benefits of good governance partnered with effective management and staff focused on member needs.
Linda has over 30 years professional human resource experience, over 20 in the credit union system as Senior Vice President responsible for oversight of human resources, marketing, operational consulting and member relations for BC and Ontario credit unions. Her governance experience spans credit unions, cooperatives, affiliated organizations and non-profits including board and committee chair positions. She completed governance education through the Institute of Corporate Directors; her volunteer projects include developing and facilitating cooperative and credit union governance training primarily in Africa and she also facilitated credit union director education programs for BC credit unions. She has been involved in strategy development based on member needs.
She has been a regular speaker, by invitation, at BC and Canadian credit union conferences and internationally through the World Council of Credit Unions in Europe and Australia. Her volunteer activities focus on poverty alleviation in underdeveloped countries through cooperatives and mental health as past board member of the Mood Disorders Association BC.
