G&F Financial Group Foundation

Supporting our community is at the very heart of what we do.

The G&F Financial Group Foundation (the Foundation) provides financial assistance to charities and non-profit agencies that build on the values of G&F to make a positive and lasting impact in the community.

The Foundation is funded primarily through discretionary allocations from G&F, which are approved by the Board of Directors and also through donations from fundraising events. 

Areas of support

The Foundation provides financial assistance to charities and non-profit agencies that build on the values of G&F Financial Group to make a positive and lasting impact in the community.

The Foundation supports:

  1. Community health – programs or groups that support the well-being of our communities such as social services, health and well-being and youth activities
  2. Financial literacy – programs or groups that support increased education about finances and overall education programs
  3. Environmental impact – programs or groups that support the health and vitality of our external environment

Application period

Applications for funding through the G&F Financial Group Foundation are accepted each year. Submit your application between the specified dates:

Application period: January 2 – April 30

Foundation committee meeting: June

  • Educates through financial literacy, education awards and programs
  • Supports the environment

Funding criteria

Following the overall community investment purpose and guiding principles, specific criteria for the Foundation and to qualify for support, organizations and programs must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered charity status
  • Are not for profit
  • Employ ethical methods of publicity, promotion and solicitation of funds
  • Administration costs of the organization are reasonable and minimal
  • Demonstrate strong support and need for the programs/services provided
  • Have a long-term impact and has a measurable benefit to that segment of the community served by the organization (affect significant numbers of people)
  • Have a number of volunteers active in the organization
  • Provide recognition to the Foundation
  • Funding request must be $2,500 or more
  • The maximum amount a charity can be funded is $20,000 per year
  • Multi-year funding will be considered for up to a maximum of 3 years

The Foundation will not consider funding for the following:

  • Organizations that have received funding in the past 24 months
  • Sponsorship of professional athletic or amateur sports teams or individuals
  • Single events, such as walk-a-thons, fundraisers, workshops, seminars, trips, tours and the like
  • Support political, religious, racial, or gender bias
  • Organizations that are in any way exclusive
  • Independent film/video productions
  • Initiatives outside of our areas of operation
  • Wages, advertising or transportation costs related to the event
  • Overhead costs such as rent and utilities related to the organization or the event
